About Burbank Tournament of Roses Association
Volunteers:
We accept volunteers aged 7 or up. Under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Everyone must have a signed Release/Code of Conduct form before working/volunteering; under 18 must have the form signed by a parent or guardian.
In addition to our Release/Code of Conduct forms, you will also need to fill out and sign a BWP Visitor form.
Release/Code of Conduct forms and BWP Visitor forms are available on-site or at: http://www.burbankrosefloat.com/release-forms.html
Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty or ruined and wear flat bottom, closed-toed shoes that cover the entire foot at all times. Do not wear sandals, perforated shoes (example Crocs) or high heels when at the float site.
Float Site Location:
The float is built and decorated at the Burbank Water and Power yard at 123 W. Olive Ave, Burbank, CA 91502. Note: Near the intersection of Olive and Flower, under the Olive Ave. bridge, across from Borrmann Metal. Inside the Burbank Water and Power yard the building is marked “BWP Auxiliary Warehouse."
Please park at the Metrolink parking lot (5 W. Olive Ave., Burbank), under the Olive Ave. overpass at the corner of Olive and Flower St. Parking is free.
Work Parties:
We are a year-round organization. We work almost every Saturday and Wednesday on the float. Stop by anytime on Saturday between 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. If you want to call first to make sure we are at the float, the float site phone number is: (818) 840-0060.
Deco Week:
Deco Week is December 26-31, 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., however we usually work much later. On December 31st we will typically finish decorating by second Judging and then will need volunteers after judging to help prepare the float for convoy by clearing all workspaces. If you are interested in decorating, we recommend volunteering on or before December 30th.
We cannot guarantee any openings, but please be patient and come as soon as you can. We take new volunteers on a first-come basis. We highly recommend coming early in the week (or before Deco Week if possible) to get yourself established.
Afternoons and evenings tend to be better times for new volunteers to come during Deco Week—we tend to get a lot of volunteers when we first open up, but have fewer volunteers around 4:00 p.m. and late into the evenings.
Float Judging:
On December 30th and 31st we have Judging, everyone is welcome to watch the Judges as they inspect our float. Times will be posted on our website, under the Calendar section as soon as we are given the schedule. Typically, the judging is around 1:00 p.m.
